Select, move, and delete nodes
Goal: Edit your graph quickly — select nodes, move them, and remove mistakes.
Time: ~5 minutes
Steps
- Select one node — click it on the canvas.
- Select multiple — Shift-click additional nodes, or drag a marquee on empty canvas (see Marquee select vs pan).
- Move — drag any selected node; the group moves together.
- Delete — with nodes selected, press Delete or Backspace.
- Or right-click the canvas → Delete node when one node is selected.
- To remove a wire, select the wire if your build supports wire delete, or delete and re-add the downstream node — then rewire.
- After deleting a trigger, Build & Run again so Live drops that menu command.
Expected result
Unwanted nodes disappear. Remaining Run and data wires stay valid. Build succeeds unless you removed a required part of the chain.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Cannot delete | Click the node first; ensure canvas has focus |
| Broke Run chain | Rewire Run from trigger through to final action |
| Menu item still in Live | Rebuild after deleting a trigger |
| Deleted too much | Undo in Patchwright if available, or reload last saved project |
| Marquee selects wrong | Switch left-drag mode in Settings → Mouse & Keyboard |
