Set up AI providers
Goal: Connect Claude or another supported model so PatchAI can suggest and fix graphs.
Time: ~10 minutes
Steps
- Click PatchAI on the toolbar to open the AI Assistant panel.
- Open the provider or API key section inside that panel — not Settings (Settings are for canvas and HTTP secrets only).
- Paste your API key for the provider you use (bring-your-own-key in v1).
- Choose the model tier your key supports, if the panel offers a choice.
- Send a short test prompt: “Add an On MIDI Clip trigger that sets clip name to Test.”
- Confirm you get a reply and optional graph edits without “missing key” errors.
- Keep keys private — do not embed them in dialog designs or node text fields.
Expected result
PatchAI answers prompts and can edit your graph. Keys stay in the AI Assistant configuration, separate from extension HTTP secrets in Settings.
If something goes wrong
